Civilian Police Academy

Any student interested in an unique opportunity to learn more about the Town of Woodbury Police Department and gain valuable insights concerning a law enforcement career should contact the department in order to determine if there are any open slots for an internship opportunity.

For example, the department currently hosts the Orange-Ulster BOCES students interested in the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice program. These students will join Officers on "Ride-Alongs" in order to gain a better understanding of the daily operations within a police department.  All applicants are subject to a background check. Each participant must sign a waiver and wear a bullet resistant vest that is provided by the department.
Interested candidates can call, walk-in or email the department concerning internship or "ride along" opportunities. We thank you in advance for your interest and look forward to hosting you.

The Civilian Police Academy is a unique program that enables residents to get a truly inside look at how the Town of Woodbury Police Department operates on a daily basis. The students attend a 3 hour course once a week for a period  over at least 10 weeks of instruction. During each course, the students experience a hands-on learning approach to gain insight concerning the practices of modern law enforcement agencies. Upon graduation, each participant is recognized for their commitment with a certificate of completion.
